Spurs finally agree deal with French forward

Artikelbild:Spurs finally agree deal with French forward

It's been a very good last 24 hours for Spurs, finally securing a win in the Premier League, a 0-2 win away at Brentford for their first victory in the league since December 15th, and the announcement of Austria and RC Lens central defender Kevin Danso. It seems as if Spurs are busy again today on the final day of the January (even though it's already February) transfer window, as the club look set to sign a player that they've been chasing for the last week or so, as the player has now agreed to move to N17, to the delight of manager Ange Postecoglou and the Spurs fans.

Done deal says reliable journalist

It was reported an hour ago by reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano that Mathys Tel has finally agreed to join the North Londoners on a straight loan deal, with no buy option at all.Spurs were eagerly waiting for a decision from the France under twenty one international and he has now decided he wants to be part of the squad for the 2024/2025 season. Tel has had limited chances to prove himself in Bavaria with the strength in attacking options such as Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sane as well as compatriots Kingsley Coman and Michael Olise out on the wings, and former Tottenham Hotspur man Harry Kane as the focal point. You'd imagine Kane and team mate Eric Dier have put in good words about the club to Tel which would have helped him make his decision.

How will he fit in the team?

Tel is a versatile forward or winger that can play as an out and out nine or as a left winger, he likes to run in behind using his pace and is a decent finisher aswell. He scored 7 Bundesliga goals last campagin for the club from Bavaria in just 6 starts, from an xG of just 3.72! He would help give players like captain Heung-Min Son some rest time, as the South Korean international is now apporaching 33-years-old and doesn't consistently have the legs anymore to constantly run past his opponent. Tel can stay wide and take his man on one versus one or play as an inside forward off that left channel to try and get plenty of shots away.

Funnily enough he has played against Spurs before, when he was at the club where he came through the academy, Stade Rennais. The two sides met each other in the 2021/22 UEFA Conference League, albeit only getting on for just a minute, it shows how much of a talent he is that at 16 years old he still got some first team experience. It is a risk for Spurs, considering he has had such little game time recently and could lack that match fitness, but it means he has something to prove to show people what he's really capable of on a consistent basis. If it does work out and he performs well, you'd think Bayern would be hesitant to let him leave unless Levy cough
