Ruben Amorim is plotting a raid on Sporting Lisbon ahead of his proposed move to Manchester United.
Amorim is expected to reach an agreement to become Manchester United’s next head coach, following the decision to sack Erik ten Hag on Monday. The 39-year-old has won two Primeira Liga titles with Sporting to emerge as one of Europe’s best up-and-coming coaches.
Attention will soon turn towards a rebuild of the Red Devils and TeamTalk are reporting that Amorim has already requested a triple raid on the Portuguese champions.
Goncalo Inacio, who has been tracked by Manchester United and Liverpool in recent transfer windows, is a player of interest with the left-footed centre-back possessing a release clause of €60m (£51m) in his contract at Estádio José Alvalade.
Last season, Inacaio led Portugal’s top flight for touches, progressive passes, passes into the final third, and progressive carrying distance.
There’s also reported interest in Pedro Gonçalves and Marcus Edwards. Gonçalves, who made just one appearance during an underwhelming spell at Wolves earlier in his career, has evolved into one of the Primeira Liga’s top players at Sporting.
The midfielder topped the division for goals as Sporting won the title in 2020/21 and has led Portuguese football for assists in each of the last two campaigns.
Edwards, who came through the academy ranks at Tottenham Hotspur, has 22 goals and 26 assists in 115 games for Sporting. The 25-year-old is viewed as a potential replacement for Antony.
