Spanish international forward Mariona Caldentey signs for Arsenal | OneFootball

Arsenal have completed the signing of Spanish international forward Mariona Caldentey.

The Gunners announced the news via a post on their official club website this morning.

Mariona joins Arsenal on the back of spending the last decade with FC Barcelona. The forward helped the Spanish giants to dominate both the European and domestic games. She won 22 trophies with her former club including three UEFA Women’s Champions League titles and six finetwork Liga F titles.

On the international stage, Mariona has 72 caps for Spain while she has scored 26 goals for her country. She was a member of the side that won the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023 along with the inaugural UEFA Women’s Nations League.

After joining Arsenal, Mariona said “I’m so happy to be here. This is the right time for a new challenge for me and Arsenal is the perfect place. I think what Arsenal are doing as a club is amazing – on and off the pitch. I love the way we want to play as a team and I think there’s a strong mentality building here.

“It’s been incredible to see what the club has done away from the pitch, with supporters following the team everywhere and lots of records being broken. I can’t wait to get started and help the team win trophies and entertain our supporters.”

Mariona becomes Arsenal’s first signing of the summer transfer window.
