Adversity has been hard to come by for Spain at Euro 2024 but Georgia certainly gave them a fright in the round of 16.

An early own goal had Spain on the back foot but, thanks to a pinpoint weak-footed effort from superstar Rodri, Luis de la Fuente's side settled before half-time and ran amok in the second period, coasting into the last eight.

They've been the most impressive team at the tournament, operating with the slickness, fluency and cohesion of an elite-level club outfit. However, their biggest test awaits on Friday against Germany, who have been similarly impressive on home soil. A belting affair beckons in Stuttgart.

Here's the starting XI De la Fuente could pick for Friday's quarter-final clash at Euro 2024.

GK: Unai Simon - Simon's first concession of the tournament arrived on his third appearance. The Athletic Club shot-stopper is in for his busiest night of Euro 2024 on Friday.

RB: Dani Carvajal - Working in tandem with a Clasico rival down the right, Carvajal must be loving watching Lamine Yamal go about his work ahead of him. The Real Madrid full-back will once again see plenty of Jamal Musiala in this one.

CB: Aymeric Laporte - The slick ball-playing centre-back certainly hasn't lost his touch despite departing Europe's elite for the Saudi Pro League. Havertz's crafty movement will keep Laporte on his toes.

CB: Robin Le Normand - Le Normand will no longer be returning to San Sebastian after the Euros, with Atletico Madrid set to complete a move for the Real Sociedad defender while the tournament's ongoing.

LB: Marc Cucurella - His season with Chelsea was certainly a mixed bag but Cucurella has been excellent for Spain this summer and performs a key tactical role down the left-hand side.

CM: Rodri - There simply isn't anybody better. Spain could have been in for a nervy second half against Georgia having trailed 1-0 but Rodri's strike from the edge of the area ensured his side restored parity before the break. He has a huge role to play in shunning Germany's litany of between-the-lines playmakers.

CM: Pedri - It's been a subtly impressive tournament for Pedri, with De la Fuente wisely managing his minutes. The Barcelona star was withdrawn early in the round of 16 but is expected to keep his place.

CM: Fabian Ruiz - The PSG midfielder was on the scoresheet again last time out, crashing the box and heading home to give Spain the lead against Georgia. Fabian is enjoying his time in Germany.

RW: Lamine Yamal - The 16-year-old may already have a trademark manoeuvre. Yamal recorded another assist with a teasing delivery after working the ball onto his preferred left foot against Georgia for Ruiz to head home. The technique was sublime and he's already one of the world's best.

ST: Alvaro Morata - There have been no goals for Morata since he scored Spain's first of the tournament, but that's not to say the Atletico Madrid striker isn't doing his job.

LW: Nico Williams - Williams is lighting up Euro 2024 in tandem with Yamal and the pair complement each other so wonderfully. One-v-one machine Williams scored his first goal of the tournament in scintillating fashion last time out.
