According to reports from El Desmarque (h/t Fichajes), Perez has begun laying the groundwork for a potential transition, keeping an eye on Alonso as a possible successor.

The managerial situation at the club has been a hot topic in recent months and while Carlo Ancelotti remains in charge, speculation about his future refuses to die down.

More questions than answers

With every setback, doubts continue to grow about whether he will remain at the helm beyond this season.

Ancelotti has always maintained that he will stay for as long as the club wants him, but the board appears to be preparing for a scenario where they have to find a replacement.

“Madrid fears that Ancelotti’s tenure is over and has been anticipating that idea for some time due to the passage of time,” said journalist Ramon Alvarez de Mon.

“The information I have is that there have been recent contacts. There has been one between Florentino Perez and Xabi Alonso. Yes, there is a plan, but who knows?

In a super-successful season for Ancelotti, maybe Madrid could change its mind,” added the journalist.

Although no final decision has been made, Madrid’s board is keeping its options open. If Ancelotti delivers another exceptional season, the club could reconsider its stance.

However, if change becomes necessary, Real Madrid seem intent on ensuring a smooth transition by securing a top-class replacement well in advance.
