Man City have been one of the busier clubs in the current transfer window, and it seems that there’s still more business to be done with Phil Foden-esque ace, James McAtee the next to leave the Etihad Stadium.

According to sources close to CaughtOffside, Pep Guardiola won’t stand in the player’s way if he confirms a desire to leave, and, in fact, the reigning Premier League champions are already believed to be listening to offers for the 22-year-old in the region of £25m.

That’s despite Guardiola comparing the player to Foden and expressing his admiration for him.

West Ham wanted McAtee when Julen Lopetegui was in charge at the club, though he doesn’t appear to be in new manager, Graham Potter’s plans.

Despite Premier League interest, the attacking midfielder’s most likely destination at this stage would seem to be Bayer Leverkusen.

That’s because sources have told CaughtOffside McAtee has received a special request from Xabi Alonso.

Foden-esque James McAtee set for Leverkusen switch

The Spaniard apparently values the Englishman’s quality and sees him as an ideal replacement for the injured Martin Terrier, who will miss the rest of the season with a ruptured Achilles tendon.

It’s understood that Leverkusen want to do a loan deal with an option to buy, though it isn’t clear at this point as to whether Man City will be agreeable to the same.

Newcastle United, Fulham, Mainz, Stuttgart, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund are all still waiting in the wings in the hope of muscling in on any deal, however, it seems that Leverkusen hold all the aces at this point.
