In a recent update from Mundo Deportivo, it has been revealed that Gavi playing as a playmaker, positioned just behind Robert Lewandowski, is a strong possibility for Barcelona’s upcoming match against Atletico Madrid.
With Lamine Yamal unavailable, manager Hansi Flick now has various options to consider for his starting lineup.
This absence has opened up a number of opportunities, particularly in the attack, where Flick may decide to make some bold changes.
One of the most notable options being considered is Gavi’s deployment as an attacking midfielder, a role he could thrive in alongside those who will occupy the wide areas against Atletico Madrid.

Meanwhile, in other areas of the pitch, the team is shaping up to be quite settled. Inaki Pena is expected to remain in goal, having earned the trust of the coaching staff with his consistent performances.
In defence, the right-back position will see Jules Kounde continue, while the centre-back pairing is set to include Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez, with Alejandro Balde on the left.
In midfield, Pedri and Marc Casado will maintain their established partnership. Casado will take on a more defensive role as a ‘stopper’, while Pedri will have more freedom to influence the game.
However, it is in the attacking third where Flick is likely to make the most significant changes, and Gavi could play a key role.
His natural aggression, high work rate, and relentless pressing style could prove to be valuable in helping Barcelona apply pressure on Atletico Madrid in their own half.
With these changes, Barcelona will aim to find the right balance between creativity and defensive stability as they prepare for a tough clash with Atletico Madrid.
