Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap reportedly wants to join Manchester United, but the final decision hinges on one key factor.

The 22-year-old is a Manchester City youth product who impressed in his first full Premier League season, scoring 12 goals in 36 top-flight appearances. He has been described as a ‘monster’ and an ‘all-round striker’.

So while his teammates will suffer the drop, the striker is destined to remain in the EPL, as some of the country’s biggest clubs would be pleased to accommodate him.

In recent weeks, Man United have emerged as the favourites to land Delap, even though other clubs remain in the fray. In recent hours, The Athletic reported face-to-face talks between the two parties.

According to Sky Sports, the young bomber would be happy to join the Red Devils, but he’s also keen to play European football next season.

As the source explains, Delap’s other suitors, mainly Chelsea and Newcastle, are expected to land European spots on the final day of the Premier League season.

Hence, the lack of European football could be held against Man Utd. So if Ruben Amorim’s men were to prevail over Tottenham in Wednesday’s Europa League final and subsequently book their place in the Champions League next season, Delap would be fully convinced to join.

On the contrary, the Reds’ defeat in Bilbao could drive the player away from Carrington, especially if another club tables a more enticing offer.

It should be noted that due to Ipswich’s relegation, the Winchester native’s release clause dropped to £30 million.

Hence, Delap is deemed a more affordable profile compared to the likes of Victor Osimhen, Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko, but arguably less exciting for the fanbase, as many are still hoping for the arrival of a more accomplished centre-forward.
