In this case, episodes of usury, extortion and false invoices – which have already emerged and been investigated – are contested, for which those arrested are considered ‘serious suspects’.
For some of the crimes, the aggravating circumstance of mafia purpose was contested for having facilitated, according to the prosecution, ‘the gang of the Bellocco family’.
Among the seven arrested is also Mauro Russo, under house arrest and an ex-friend of former AC Milan captain Paolo Maldini and former Inter striker Christian Vieri, both totally unrelated to the investigation.
The extortion cases contested concern various areas, in particular payments of money illegally demanded by the manager of the Meazza stadium parking lots with the aim of guaranteeing a sort of ‘environmental tranquility’.
The recovery of sums of money connected to usurious loans, or financing for economic activities and, finally, the attempt to oust Beretta from the management of his merchandising company.
