The Hammers take on The Cityzens at The Chigwell Construction Stadium three days on from their unlucky 4-3 defeat at Arsenal.
When speaking to WSL Full-Time in the pre-match press conference, West Ham United boss Skinner said that consistency is the main aim.
“For us, the biggest focus is that we want to be more consistent in games,” Skinner said. “We have played really well for three games on the bounce, we have been much more threatening and positive in our style of play. That’s really good because it’s something that we’ve wanted to achieve for a while.
“Things are moving in the right direction for us. We have to make sure that we use the squad effectively, we go and be competitive. We are at home and we want to make life as difficult as possible for them.”
Skinner went on to say that West Ham United are ready for Manchester City and that they are keen to put on a show for the home crowd.
She said “We know what to expect with the individuals that they have and their style of play. We want to make sure that we just focus on us and carry on the good stuff from the weekend. We want to take the game to them and make life difficult.
“As I said, we are at home and we want to put on a really good show for our fans because they’ve been fantastic this season. Their support has led to us equalling the club’s home record for points. That’s something that’s really important for us to try and push that further.”
Victory would push The Hammers closer to the top half of the table but Skinner says that continual improvement is the target.
She said “The biggest focus is that we want to make sure that we achieve more than we did previously. That’s got to be something that is important for us, building on last year.
“It’s a rebuild at the club in lots of different ways. I think we are in a fantastic position now compared to when I came in, both behind-the-scenes and with the squad. We have got some great players in the building and that makes a massive difference.
“If we get our heads down, work in the right way and stay focused on the task, I think we can definitely get more points. Ultimately, we want to finish as high as we can.”
West Ham United’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture against Manchester City kicks-off at 7pm. Tickets will be available to purchase ahead of the match at The Chigwell Construction Stadium.
