Siwelele FC have announced the signing of former Kaizer Chiefs winger Tebogo Potsane, who amicably parted ways with the Glamour Boys with a year left on his contract at Naturena at the end of last season.
The 31-year-old joined the Soweto giants ahead of the 2022/23 term from Royal AM, who have since been booted out of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) due to their financial woes, which saw them fail to honour their fixtures.
Potsane’s stay at Chiefs was heavily hampered by injuries as he constantly found himself on the sidelines. As a result, he failed to command a regular place in the starting XI and was unable to make an impact at the club.
During his spell with Amakhosi, the diminutive winger made a total of 33 appearances across all competitions, chipping in with two assists in the process. He won the Nedbank Cup with Chiefs in the previous campaign.
Now, Potsane is reunited with his former coach Lehlohonolo Seema, whom they worked together at the now-defunct Bloemfontein Celtic, before the club was purchased by businesswoman Shauwn ‘MaMkhize’ Mkhize and renamed it to Royal AM in 2020.
The Bloemfontein-born star will be eager to get his career back on tract and replicate the form that earned him a big move to Chiefs.
Meanwhile, the newly rebranded Siwelele, who bought the PSL status of SuperSport United, are currently in 12th-place on the Betway Premiership log standings, having won one of their opening four league outings.
Seema’s men are on a three-game losing streak and will be determined to get back to winning ways when they host Richards Bay FC at the Dr. Petrus Molemela Stadium on Friday. On the other hand, The Natal Rich Boys tasted their first victory of the season in their last league match.
