Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS consortium finally reached an agreement with the Glazer family to buy a minority stake in Manchester United in December 2023.

The British billionaire secured a 25% portion of the club with an agreement to take over the sporting structure at Old Trafford after months of painful negotiations.

The deal cost the 74-year-old businessman a reported £1.3 billion and has subsequently taken a chunk out his overall net worth.

As reported by the Daily Star, Ratcliffe has seen a fall of £6.169 billion in his fortunes this financial year after seeing INEOS be the higher climbers on the previous years Sunday Times rich list.

However, United’s new co-owner has maintained his place in the top five, with a incredible reported net worth of £23.519 billion

As a lifelong United fan, Ratcliffe will be desperate to see his investment pay off as he hopes to guide his beloved club back to the top of the English game.

The INEOS chief is gathering a crack team to lead United into a new era which will swing into action this summer and the upcoming transfer window.

An exciting backroom team is being handpicked by Ratcliffe and United will be hoping for a successful market to set them up for the new season.

United’s recruitment has been well below par over the last decade and it’s lead to the team falling far behind their rivals in the Premier League.

INEOS will be looking for sensible deals in the coming months, as well as developing their plans to either repair or build a new stadium which has also fallen into unacceptable standards under the Glazer’s stewardship.

However, Ratcliffe’s most important decision may lie in the dugout and whether to stick or twist on current boss, Erik ten Hag.

The Dutchman has suffered a wretched second season in charge at the club but does have the FA Cup final at the end of the month to secure back-to-back trophies during his time in Manchester.

No official word has come from INEOS on what they are intending to do with Ten Hag but major changes are expected on and off the pitch in the coming months and should Sir Jim and his team get it right, they would leave a lasting impression on a club that money can’t buy.
