Viljami Sinisalo made his Scottish Premiership debut for the club, and just his second competitive appearance overall in the 3-0 win over Hearts at Celtic Park on Saturday.
The Finnish shot stopper despite not being severely tested, didn’t look out of place as he stood in for the injured Kasper Schmeichel. When he was called upon he looked pretty assured, and his calmness with the ball at his feet was also evident, which is a vital characteristic to have in Brendan’s footballing philosophy.
At 23 he’s a young player, very young in goalkeeping terms, and he’s still learning the game, but he has a great pedigree, and the potential to go far in the game.

Finland has produced some great goalkeepers over the years such as Jussi Jaaskelainen, Lukas Hradecky, and of course a familiar name in Antti Niemi (nope he’s not Scottish!) let’s hope that Viljami proves to be just a good as his fellow shot stoppers and countrymen.
Whilst he’s shown that he’s more than a capable deputy for Kasper Schmeichel, it remains to be seen if he’s good enough to be his successor in the long run. The signs have been good so far, let’s hope he continues his progress as we could have a very good player on our hands.
