Simone Inzaghi is reportedly in advanced talks to become the next manager of Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli.
According to Sky Sport Germany journalist Patrick Berger, the Italian is high on the club’s wishlist after Jorge Jesus stepped down.
Jesus left Al-Ahli following a string of poor results, and the club is now keen to bring in an experienced replacement.
Inzaghi, who joined Inter Milan in 2021, has built a solid reputation for himself in Italy and in Europe.
He has enjoyed tremendous success with Inter, including winning the 2023/24 Serie A title and leading them to the Champions League final in 2023, their first in 13 years.
Inzaghi narrowly missed out on this season’s Serie A title, finishing just one point behind champions Napoli.
Despite the strong interest, Inzaghi has not given Al-Ahli a final decision. He will put all talks on hold until after Inter’s Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain.
Inzaghi is focused on ending the season strongly before thinking about his future.
Al-Ahli are confident that a deal could be agreed in the coming weeks. If Inzaghi accepts the offer, he could become the highest-paid coach in world football.
The Saudi club are ready to back the coach with a strong project and top resources. They believe his experience in Europe could help the team challenge again.
No final agreement has been reached yet, but the signs point towards a likely deal. Talks are expected to move faster when Inter’s European campaign ends.
