Sheffield United will be looking to put their play-off final woes behind them in search of promotion to the top-flight next term.

With Ruben Selles now at the helm, adding extra quality to the Blades’ squad will be crucial if they are to edge out the likes of Ipswich Town and Southampton across 46 games.

Crystal Palace forward Jesurun Rak-Sakyi spent last season on loan at Bramall Lane, netting seven times and providing two assists in 34 appearances for the Steel City side.

Clubs such as Southampton and Rangers have been credited with an interest in the 22-year-old this summer, but it is yet to be seen whether Selles and Co. would be interested in bringing the forward back.

Football League World’s Sheffield United fan pundit, Jimmy (AKA Blades Ramble), wouldn’t be opposed to seeing how Rak-Sakyi would perform under the new management in S2.

Sheffield United handed clear Jesurun Rak-Sakyi transfer verdict

“In terms of Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, I wasn't overly impressed last season if I'm honest,” stated Jimmy. “He came with a lot of hype, and we beat a lot of clubs to his signature.

“But I don't think we saw the best of him and maybe that was the way that we were playing. Maybe we didn't give him enough of a consistent run in the side. Maybe he wasn't given individual instructions in terms of how he wanted to play.

“I think Ruben Selles will give him that to the minute detail. I think Rak-Sakyi will blossom if he knows his job, he's got his instructions, and he knows what's being asked of him.

“The example I’ll give is Andre Brooks in pre-season, who already looks like a different player under Selles. It seems like he knows his job on that right wing and that's who Rak-Sakyi will be competing with.

“He's looking to take his man on and cut inside, which is what Rak-Sakyi’s game is all about as well.

“Adding Rak-Sakyi would fit in terms of what we're looking to do with our recruitment right now, but I wasn't blown away with him last season.

“But if we're to bring him in and give him another chance, I would not be upset at that either.”

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi could be a different player under Ruben Selles

Rak-Sakyi hardly set the world alight at Bramall Lane last season, and it’s therefore understandable why some Sheffield United supporters would feel deflated if he returned this summer.

However, at just 22 years of age, he still has a great deal of time to develop and unlock his full potential.

Whilst still honing their trade, certain players can blossom under specific managers, and Selles may have what it takes to get the best out of Rak-Sakyi.

He fits the exciting, destructive profile of forward the Blades’ new boss likes to operate with and could turn out to be a clever addition for Sheffield United this summer.
