Oliver Glasner has revealed that Palace aren't prepared to recall Rak-Sakyi in January, as things stand.
Crystal Palace will not recall Jesurun Rak-Sakyi from Sheffield United in January, according to Eagles boss Oliver Glasner.
Glasner also revealed to the South London Press that the player was keen to leave Palace in the summer to secure more game time.
The winger has been a success at Bramall Lane during his time there thus far, producing in the final third, especially in recent games.
He may not have been able to secure a goal or an assist against Sunderland on Friday night, but they were still able to come away from the game with three points.
The winger, did, however, register a goal and an assist against Coventry City earlier this month and scored against Oxford United in the following game.
His arrival has been much-needed, considering the Blades don't have a huge number of wing options in South Yorkshire.
His contributions have certainly played a part in United's rise to the top of the Championship table, but there have been concerns regarding a potential recall.
There have been similar concerns over Harry Souttar, but he has played too many games for United to be eligible for a recall now, and Blades fans would have been hoping for similar assurances regarding Rak-Sakyi.
Palace boss Glasner has seen the wide player shine in recent weeks, but will resist any temptation to recall him when the January window opens.
He told the South London Press: "He wanted to leave. If a player wants to leave, then it’s better to allow it. If a player doesn’t want to be here it makes no sense to put chains over his arms.
"We won’t recall him. He hasn’t played every game there.
"Yes, now he’s in a good phase. But we shouldn’t judge him on a good two weeks – he has to show it over the whole season.
"Also, it’s the way we are playing and the way he is playing. He has to integrate into the way we are playing. If he does, the door is open. If he doesn’t, the door is closed."
Cautious celebration is probably the right reaction from United.
It's great news that Palace aren't willing to recall him at this stage - because this will allow him to continue shining at Bramall Lane.
However, minds can change and so can situations, with a potential future injury crisis likely to increase the chances of him being recalled.
At this stage though, it would be difficult to see him returning to Selhurst Park in January - and it's an outcome no party will want unless Palace desperately need him in their first team.
This current situation is also ideal for the Eagles, considering the player is developing well out on loan and is getting the game time at Bramall Lane that he may not have got in the English capital this season.
