Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw will become the new owner of the Manchester City No.9 shirt ahead of the 2025/26 Barclays Women’s Super League season.
The Jamaican forward, City’s record goalscorer during our professional era, will make the switch from No.21, which she’s worn since joining the Club in the summer of 2021.
Since then, Shaw’s exploits have earned her a reputation as one of world football’s deadliest centre forwards.
She’s found the net 91 times in just 106 appearances so far for City, winning the WSL Golden Boot in each of the last two seasons.
The Jamaican also holds the record for the most goals across a single season, scoring 31 times in 30 appearances in 2022/23.
But now Shaw will hope to continue her prolific goalscoring wearing City’s iconic No.9 shirt, becoming the fourth wearer since our official relaunch in 2014.
Toni Duggan was the first owner of the shirt, scoring our first goal professional goal in it, before ending her time at City in 2017 with 34 goals in 75 appearances.
Next to wear the shirt was German forward Pauline Bremer who, across three seasons at the Joie Stadium, notched 24 goals, including 22 in as many matches in her final campaign.
And the most recent City player to wear the shirt before Shaw was Chloe Kelly who, across five years at the Club, scored 34 times in 113 appearances, winning our Player of the Season award in her debut season.
But now Shaw is ready to write a new chapter in both her own and City’s storied past as our latest No.9.
