With each passing day, it appears like Inaki Pena’s time at FC Barcelona could be coming to an end, with the 26-year-old’s exit in the summer becoming a likely possibility.
The La Masia graduate has fallen behind Wojciech Szczesny in the pecking order under Hansi Flick and will be relegated to third-choice position once Marc-Andre ter Stegen returns.
With Szczesny’s renewal on track and no talks taking place to extend Pena’s contract, which expires in 2026, the academy product appears headed for the exit doors with clubs from England, Spain, and Turkey keeping an eye on him.
Building on that, Fichajes now reports that Barcelona’s La Liga rivals Sevilla have emerged as one of the main contenders to sign Inaki Pena in the summer.

The Andalusian club are keen to strengthen their squad with a dependable goalkeeper, and the opportunity to become their first-choice option could be exactly what Pena needs to reignite his career.
After all, the 26-year-old goalkeeper’s priority is to find a club where he can play regularly and prove his worth – something that is no longer a possibility at Barcelona.
Several other La Liga clubs are also understood to be keeping an eye on Pena’s situation at Barça, but as things stand, Sevilla seem to be holding the most concrete interest.
However, there have been some tensions between the two clubs in the recent past and it will be interesting to see whether that impacts the chances of a transfer come summer.
