Sacha Tavolieri reports that Borussia Mönchengladbach head coach Gerardo Seoane may soon depart his Bundesliga club. The Belgian footballing journalist claims that Sevilla FC have offered Seoane a two-year contract to coach the Europa League record champions.

Such news obviously comes as a big surprise given that Seoane – following a highly disappointing finish to the league campaign – wasn’t exactly considered a hot commodity. No German sources are corroborating Tavolieri’s report as of yet. Seoane’s Gladbach contract is due to expire at the end of next season.

In two full seasons in charge of Gladbach, Seoane hasn’t been able to get the foals back into Europe. The fact the BMG management stuck with him after two years of mid-table mediocrity is largely attributed to the fact that – after the Adi Hütter and Daniel Farke one-year flops – the club craved some stability.

Seoane nevertheless did initially achieve some success when he moved north to the Bundesliga from his native Switzerland. Some may have of forgotten that he did lead Bayer Leverkusen to a third-place finish and a Champions League berth during his 2021/22 season coaching die Werkself.

Seoane is of Galatian heritage and does speak fluent Spanish.
