Milan Djuric replied to Adam Masina with two headers from corners, as Torino and Monza continued their disappointing recent form.

Both teams were in dismal form going into the break for international duty, coming off three consecutive defeats. Che Adams returned, leaving Duvan Zapata, Perr Schuurs and Zanos Savva on the treatment table. Monza missed Matteo Pessina, Stefano Sensi, Patrick Ciurria, Roberto Gagliardini and Alessio Cragno.

Toro ultras sat in silence for the first 45 minutes in protest at the running of the club.

Daniel Maldini nearly scored after 90 seconds, springing the offside trap and riding a tackle to test Vanja Milinkovic-Savic one-on-one.

At the other end, Pablo Mari required practically a goal-line clearance to keep out the Saul Coco header from a corner.

Toro finally broke the deadlock on the hour mark from a Valentin Lazaro corner, as Adam Masina leapt in the crowd and saw his header glance into the far top corner. It was his first Serie A goal since May 2023.

Moments later, Monza had drawn level in similar circumstances, as Milan Djuric nodded in another corner from Giorgos Kyriakopoulos.

The Granata felt they just had to score when Gvidas Gineitis saw his strike from eight yards well parried by Turati, but Sebastian Walukiewicz’s follow-up was deflected just off target by a desperate Pablo Mari.

Samuele Ricci stung Stefano Turati’s gloves from distance, as did the Alieu Njie curler, but they could not go beyond the 1-1 draw.
