Lazio have some serious competition in the race for Chelsea youngster Cesare Casadei, as Torino have reportedly launched a bid for the 21-year-old.
The Biancocelesti are determined to land a new midfielder in January, and he must be under the age of 22 since there’s no room on the senior list. In recent days, Jacopo Fazzini has emerged as the most likely candidate to join Marco Baroni’s side, with the club reportedly embroiled in negotiations with Empoli to reach an agreement on the figures and formula.
Nevertheless, some believe that Lazio could aim to sign another youngster, especially with Gaetano Castrovilli’s future up in the air. Hence, the Italian capital side continues to monitor several profiles, including Casadei who is starving for playing time at Stamford Bridge. However, the Inter Milan youth product remains highly touted in Italy, and has several suitors in Serie A.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Torino have launched a bid to sign the young midfielder, presenting Chelsea with an interesting formula. The Italian journalist reveals that the Granata are looking to buy Casadei on a permanent basis, with Chelsea retaining a buy-back clause. This would be a similar operation to the one that brought Nico Paz from Real Madrid to Como.
On the other hand, Di Marzio confirms Lazio’s interest in Casadei, but reveals that the club has yet to formulate a concrete offer for the Italy U21 starlet.
