Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos has this week moved to reveal his appreciation for the ongoing excellence of Blancos frontman Kylian Mbappé.
French international Mbappé is for his part of course fresh off what proved to be a hugely productive debut campaign in Spain’s capital.
After at last sealing his long-awaited Real Madrid move following the expiration of his contract terms with Paris Saint-Germain, the 26-year-old actually endured something of a difficult start to life in La Liga.
As the season wore on, though, the real Mbappé came to the fore, culminating in 43 goals across all competitions.
As much proved enough to guide the attacker to both the Pichichi award, and the European Golden Boot.
And yet, Mbappé, owing chiefly to the fact that Real Madrid went trophyless, is not expected to be in the conversation for this year’s Ballon d’Or.
Speaking during an exchange with the media, as cited by Marca, early this week, the subject of as much was in turn put to Blancos icon Sergio Ramos.
And the veteran defender made use of the opportunity to reveal his opinion that Mbappé should already have been named world football’s best player on ‘four or five’ occasions:
“Kylian Mbappé for the Ballon d’Or? For me, it’s clear. The Pichichi, the Golden Boot, but Real Madrid didn’t win titles that other teams did. They’re individual awards, but there are players who have won leagues, cups… if it were up to me, Mbappé would have four or five Ballons d’Or at home.”
