Manchester United are prepared to accelerate their efforts to sign a new goalkeeper after their defeat against Arsenal.
United looked very promising going forward against Arsenal over the weekend. However, all their good work was undone as Altay Bayindir conceded a soft goal from a corner kick.
Bayindir was handed a rare start as Ruben Amorim left Andre Onana out of the matchday squad due to fitness concerns. However, even when fit, Onana has yet to convince Amorim that he is good enough to remain the club’s number one.
According to Teamtalk, United are treating their goalkeeping situation “with greater urgency” in light of their defeat in the Premier League opener.
The Red Devils showed interest in signing a new goalkeeper early in the window, having made an unsuccessful loan bid for Emiliano Martinez. Still, the failure to secure an exit route for Onana led to United intensifying their pursuit of a midfielder instead.
Now, Bayindir’s error could lead to United “revisiting the goalkeeper market for their No 1 alternative to Martinez, Senne Lammens.”
The Royal Antwerp prodigy, who is known for his aerial prowess and sharp reflexes, is highly rated by United.
It is claimed United will “strongly consider a bid” to sign the 23-year-old before the summer transfer window shuts.
As per Teamtalk, United recently “touched base again” to understand Lammens’ situation.
The Belgian has also been followed by Inter Milan, who have been linked with a shock move for Onana as well.
However, it is believed Lammens has “given indications that he is interested in a move to Old Trafford.”
United are thought to be convinced they would win the race for the talented shot-stopper.
