Rangers manager Russell Martin is under fire after the Ibrox club lost 6-0 to Club Brugge last night.

Rangers played most of their second-leg Champions League play-offs with ten players after Max Aarons was sent off eight minutes into the game.

The Light Blues lost 9-1 on aggregate after a 3-1 defeat at Ibrox last week.

Rangers return to action on Sunday when they take on Celtic in their fourth Scottish Premiership game of 2025-26.

Martin will take charge of the game as senior club bosses have told the under-fire Ibrox boss his job is safe for now, according to the Scottish Sun.

The Bears are in search of their first league win of the new campaign following draws against Motherwell, Dundee and St. Mirren.

Victory against Celtic would be huge for Martin, but the Hoops have won their opening three league games and are favourites on Sunday despite playing at Ibrox.

The fans are already calling for his head and a defeat against the league leaders could be the final straw.

Rangers are in the Europa League following the defeat to the Belgians, but Martin does not look capable of taking this team to the next level.

The international break will give the Gers board an opportunity to make a decision on his future if the result against Celtic does not impress, and all eyes will be on him going forward.

Jayden Meghoma, Lyall Cameron, Djeidi Gassama, Thelo Aasgaard, Manny Fernandez, Nasser Djiga, Aarons, Mikey Moore, Joe Rothwell, Oliver Antman and Oscar Cortes have all joined Rangers this summer.

It remains to be seen whether more arrivals are lined up ahead of the transfer deadline on Monday, but Martin cannot claim Rangers have not backed him in the transfer market.

The onus is on him to get his players firing on all cylinders, and the Celtic game could be his last in charge of the Light Blues if nothing changes about the performance of his side.
