Brazilian superstar Neymar da Silva has spoken out after being left out of the Seleçao squad for the upcoming matches against Chile and Bolivia scheduled this month as part of the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, a list announced by Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti.

This call-up saw the absence of Neymar, Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, Endrick, and Éder Militao for various reasons.Ancelotti initially cited the need for rest following Neymar's recent injury as the reason for his omission, but the player himself refuted this, insisting that his physical condition was not the issue.

Neymar breaks his silence

After Santos' 0-0 draw against Fluminense, Neymar stated:“I had a slight swelling in my adductor, but it wasn't a serious issue. I played this match and I wasn't scheduled to play against Bahia, so I was given time to recover.”Regarding his omission from the Seleção, he added: “I think my absence is a technical decision, it has nothing to do with my physical condition. That's the coach's opinion and I respect it. My role now is to support our team and I hope they deliver strong performances.”
