Omar Marmoush received a clear message from Savinho in the Manchester City dressing room prior to kick-off against Newcastle on Saturday, it has been revealed.

The Egyptian star not only recorded his first goal for the reigning Premier League champions, but notched his first strike as part of a career-first hat-trick and of course, his first in English football with Manchester City.

Just 14 minutes separated Marmoush’s opening goal from a long-distance Ederson assist and his hat-trick completing third via excellent work from Savinho down the right-hand side in a clear reflection of the talent that City have invested in.

But the assist from the latter appears to have been planned out before kick-off between Manchester City and Newcastle United, as revealed by the Brazilian forward during his post-match media duties.

Speaking after the convincing Premier League victory at the weekend, Savinho told reporters of his promise to Omar Marmoush prior to the game that he would provide the Egyptian star with a hat-trick at some stage in the contest.

“Manchester City didn’t pay the price for nothing, he was one of the top scorers in the Bundesliga,” Savinho opened on the subject of the 26-year-old after his first goal for Manchester City and eventual hat-trick.

“I’m buzzing for him,” the Brazilian winger continued. “I told him in the dressing room I would give him an assist, and I only have to thank God.”

Going on to offer insight into the game as a whole and the feeling after such a win, Savinho said, “I only have to thank God for the three points. Also for not conceding.

“I believe it’s important to get confidence during the match, for us to have made a very good result and be confident to go to Madrid and qualify.”

The impressive showing of both Omar Marmoush and Savinho will likely improve their chances of being the starting wide-pairing for Manchester City against Real Madrid on Wednesday night.

Pep Guardiola and his players certainly have their work cut-out as they look to overturn a 2-3 deficit from the first-leg at the Etihad Stadium last Tuesday, as goals from Brahim Diaz and Jude Bellingham in the closing exchanges flipped the contest on its head.
