Inter Milan played a 1-1 draw with Salernitana in Match Day 29 of the Serie A at the Stadio Arechi, after yet another game where the Nerazzurri create but can’t convert, which is reflected in the ratings in SempreInter.com’s Inter Milan player ratings.

The Nerazzurri started the match really well and deservedly took the lead after a lovely move initiated by Kristjan Asllani and Romelu Lukaku but finished off by Robin Gosens.

Inter continued to create chances but simply couldn’t convert, either missing the final pass or when applying the decisive finish.

In the second half, the Nerazzurri continued where they left off, creating lots of chances but Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez providing woefully inept finishing when in fantastic positions.

Football is a simple game where Inter dominate for 90 minutes but the opposition goalkeeper turns into a world class monster and Inter miss tap-ins only to get deservedly get sucker-punched at the death conceding a crazy goal, usually scored  by a former player. Take a bow Guillermo Ochoa and Antonio Candreva.

Inter Milan Player Ratings Vs Salernitana

André Onana – 5: All was going well until an absolute howler to give Salernitana their 5th draw in a row. Made a few good saves in the first half otherwise.

Matteo Darmian – 6: Standard performance for Mr. Reliable. Was heavily involved both on defence and attack, making many offensive passes and long-balls.

Stefan de Vrij – 5,5: Shaky performance, got a yellow card early for a harsh tackle, scaring Inter fans in the process. Had a few shots on target, but to no avail.

Francesco Acerbi – 6: Routine performance for the vet. Was constantly making himself available as an option in attack while holding things down in defence.

Denzel Dumfries – 5: Should have had an assist or two but attackers couldn’t capitalize. Made some good crosses and created some chances on the right.

Nicolo Barella – 6: Was unlucky not to score for the second league match in a row, hitting the post again. Was a creative outlet in midfield

Kristjan Asllani – 7: Today’s performance made all Inter fans question why he doesn’t get more minutes. Great performance, made many line-breaking passes.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan – 5,5: Unsure why he, out of the 3 starting midfielders, saw 90 minutes. Had a few opportunities but overall looked tired and burnt-out.

Robin Gosens – 7 (MOTM): Scored a fantastic goal in the opening minutes of the match, pulling off a tricky finish. Created many chances and had other opportunities.

Joaquin Correa – 4,5: Looked decent in the opening minutes of the match, as did the rest of the squad, but failed to make a major impact on the match as it continued.

Romelu Lukaku – 4,5: Provided the opening assist, but disappeared afterwards. The cherry on top of this performance was hitting the bar from a yard out.

Substitutes:

Lautaro Martinez – 4,5: Brought on in the 66′ minute for Joaquin Correa. Contributed nothing, again, while missing an easy 1-on-1 that would have put Inter ahead.

Marcelo Brozovic – 5: Replaced Nicolo Barella in the 66′ minute and looked a shell of his former self. Too many misplaced passes, and was way too lazy today.

Roberto Gagliardini – 5: Substituted on for Kristjan Asllani in the 67′ minute. Typical performance, running around and not doing enough. A nice birthday gift for him today.

Federico Dimarco – 5,5: Entered in the 75′ minute for Robin Gosens. Put in some good crosses, but failed to close down Candreva which led to Salernitana’s equalizer.

Edin Dzeko – N/A: Came on in the 85′ minute for Romelu Lukaku. Did not play enough to be able to be rated.

Manager

Simone Inzaghi – 5: Put out a strong lineup, and yet again his players let him down. Created many chances but failed to score. Questions can be raised about his sub choices.

Referee

Michael Fabbri – 7: Did well throughout the entire match. Had no major decisions to call for either side, and got all the minor decisions correct, for the most part.

Team Performance

Inter – 4: Scoring goals is the bane of our existence. Chance creation? Not an issue, but in front of goal we forget the basics. Ridiculous and tiresome performance.
