Sakina Karchaoui: 'Give ourselves the tools to win' | OneFootball

The Paris Saint-Germain defender told us how she and the squad are gearing up for Sunday's big game against Lyon at the Parc des Princes.

Sakina, HOW IS THE SQUAD APPROACHING THE SEASON?

'There's the same objectives as last year, which means we have to win the league. I think we have good players, and we've got some good new signings. Winning the Champions League is also always a goal for Paris Saint-Germain. We'll give ourselves the means to do it, we're preparing really well for the start of the season. I see the girls are very much behind the project. We all speak the same language on the pitch, so we can go far and we hope to do some good things.'

WITH THE NEW FORMAT OF THE LEAGUE, THIS GAME COMES EARLY...

'It's true that we're not used to facing Lyon at the start of the season. If the league format means we'll play them a lot earlier, with the play-offs...We'll have to be ready for every game. We showed that we are in Bordeaux. We'll give ourselves the tools to win, that's important.'

IT MUST BE SPECIAL TO PLAY LYON AT THE PARC DES PRINCES, ISN'T IT?

'Grace and I talked about it. We know there's always a lot of fans in the stadium when we play Lyon or even against other Champions League teams. It's great to have the fans there, to see them encourage us, we like that. And also to play at the Parc, that fantastic pitch, to play a big game against Lyon, we'll have to give our all and win it.'
