Saint-Étienne in discussions with Maccabi Haifa for Mahmoud Jaber | OneFootball

According to a report from Foot Mercato, AS Saint-Étienne are in advanced discussions with Maccabi Haifa for Mahmoud Jaber (25).

The defensive midfielder has been of interest to Les Verts since the winter transfer window, and conversations are reportedly occurring between all parties. An agreement is thought to be close despite there being interest from Russian clubs in Jaber.

Saint-Étienne will hope that the signing of Jaber will help strengthen a position that looks as if it will become notably depleted this summer. Pierre Ekwah is expected to leave with Saint-Étienne yet to exercise their option to make his loan from Sunderland permanent, while Louis Mouton is likely to leave at the end of his contract on the 30th of June.

Les Verts will be looking to bounce back into Ligue 1 at the first time of asking next season after they were relegated back down to the second division after only a year in the top flight during the 2024/25 season.
