A new report has detailed the worrying circumstances that fell upon Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim on Sunday morning, ahead of their meeting with rivals City.
Ultimately, such circumstances would have no bearing on United’s ability to defeat their rivals at the Etihad Stadium at the weekend, coming from behind to secure all three points in a 1-2 win on Sunday afternoon.
Josko Gvardiol must have left all at Manchester United fearing for the worst when the Croatian headed the Premier League champions in front before the half-time interval, giving the hosts hope that the torrid run of matches across competitions may be coming to an end.
However, Matheus Nunes’ erratic challenge on Amad Diallo in the closing exchanges to enable Bruno Fernandes to score from the penalty spot, followed by a sensational individual goal from the Ivory Coast star to turn the game on its head.
But prior to kick-off and matchday as a whole, Manchester United’s entire starting line-up was once again leaked across social media sparking fear amongst senior first-team figures ahead of the game that their tactical approach had been compromised beyond repair.
According to The Times, Manchester United manager Rúben Amorim was aware of the early line-up leak that emerged across social media on Sunday morning, and was unhappy about it as he felt that it could undermine his team’s chances of victory against Pep Guardiola’s side.
Ultimately, it would be Manchester City who would be left struggling at the full-time whistle once again, and look towards their next game as a further challenge to desperately reclaim their form from the depths of despair.
Aston Villa is the next fixture for Pep Guardiola and his players at Villa Park on Saturday afternoon in the early kick-off, with Unai Emery’s men having pulled off several impressive performances throughout the season whilst enduring a rough patch of form themselves.
The trip to Birmingham is the first of three remaining matches for Manchester City in the Premier League in 2024, with a home clash against Everton on Boxing Day and a trip to Leicester City before New Year.
