Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has confirmed one starter for the FA Cup third-round tie against Arsenal on the road.
The Red Devils have had a disappointing Premier League campaign, accumulating only 23 points after 20 matches.
Despite this, they should go into the Gunners clash with confidence after an impressive 2-2 league draw against Liverpool at Anfield last weekend.
United were the better side during the second half. Harry Maguire missed a glorious opportunity to win the game right at the death.
Ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup meeting with the Gunners, Amorim has revealed that Altay Bayindir will get the nod in goal.
He told Manutd.com: “I don’t rotate because I want to rotate. I’m trying to find the best solutions to win the game.
“I put the guys in who are more fresh to cope with the demands of the game. The goalkeeper position is different, so it’s a good question. Altay will play.”
The Turkish international has had a difficult career with United since his move from Fenerbahce in 2023.
He was limited to just one appearance during his debut campaign at the club.
Bayindir has featured in three games this term but had a forgettable outing against Tottenham Hotspur in the League Cup quarter-final.
He was guilty of making two high-profile mistakes as United lost 4-3 and bowed out of the competition.
The £8.4 million-rated star will aim to make amends against the Gunners in Sunday’s FA Cup encounter at the Emirates Stadium.
Set-pieces are Arsenal’s main scoring strength. Both goals came from corners during the 2-0 league win against United last month.
Bayindir needs to have a dominating presence in the box to nullify Arsenal’s aerial threat.
United had a good opening half at the Emirates in December, and Amorim will want more of the same with better creativity in the final third.
