It's an intense time for the Rossonere: after the first days of work, and also our first friendlies; and at the same time there's also the draw for both the Women's Cup and the Serie A Women. Coach Bakker's side are in full swing, and having got back to training, they are now going to be involved in two key tests. While the PUMA House of Football has allowed us to reconnect and rebuild a strong and cohesive team, the best responses always come on the pitch.
That's how it went last weekend in Dübendorf, and it was a great test. The girls faced Nürnberg (1-2) and Zürich (0-1), where, with nothing at stake, the final verdict carries no weight and more importance is given to performances and positive signs. New signings appeared against the German side, including Estévez Ogalla, De Sanders and Keijzer, with the ever-reliable Evelyn Ijeh finding the back of the net. Against the Swiss team (the hosts of the tournament and the game) many Primavera stars were given a chance.
Between absences such as Arrigoni with a stress fracture in her foot, Koivisto with a shoulder dislocation, and the newly arrived Park with a thigh muscle problem, and an overall condition that still clearly needs to improve, Bakker took notes and appreciated the team’s collective effort, which has been significantly updated through the transfer market. The Rossoneri project, supported by the club, maintains the core of last season’s squad while also making a few changes. The objective is to remain in the fight at the top and to compete for ambitious goals.
The summer schedule is moving fast, and Saturday 2 August will be the date of our next interesting friendly, in the province of Brescia against Rangers, at 17:00 CEST, live on the AC Milan Official App and Milan TV. Then, there is still Fiorentina and Chelsea to go ahead of the official start: AC Milan v Sassuolo (the weekend of 23-24/08) will begin the Women's Cup which will go on until the end of September. Genoa v AC Milan (the weekend of the 04-05/10) will be the first fixture of our Serie A Women season.
