Following a well-illustrated attempt from their rivals Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr will be looking to test the resolve of Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes yet again.

The 30-year-old has been serving MUFC’s cause since making the move from Sporting CP in January 2020. He was appointed club captain in 2023, and even though his leadership credentials have been a topic of debate, few would argue against his importance to the club.

Last season, the Portuguese star contributed with 19 goals and 19 assists. Hence, Man Utd fans wouldn’t dare imagine where the club would have finished in the Premier League standings without him and his invaluable exploits.

Fernandes already rejected a bid from Al-Hilal

Fernandes’ summer began with an interesting transfer saga, as Al-Hilal were determined to sign him before the FIFA Club World Cup. The Saudi Pro League giants even offered United a transfer fee of £100 million, and were willing to pay the midfielder £200 million in wages spread over three years.

However, these astronomical figures weren’t enough to tempt the playmaker, who opted to stay at Man United, much to the fanbase’s delight.

But according to A Bola, a somewhat similar saga is taking shape, this time prompted by Al-Nassr, who want to reunite Bruno with his former Man Utd teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, as well as his other compatriots Otavia and Joao Felix who was the latest addition to the squad.

As the famous Portuguese newspaper explains, this move is sponsored by the club’s new head coach Jorge Jesus, who is desperate to rekindle his partnership with his old Sporting pupil.

The source claims that the Riyadh-based giants have offered the Man Utd skipper a five-year contract with a salary of €70 million per year.

Al-Nassr offer Man Utd & Bruno Fernandes enticing figures

While the Red Devils would be loath to sell their top star, who is considered untouchable in Ruben Amorim’s plans, especially at this delicate moment of the summer. However, Al-Nassr are hoping to sway them with a bid worth €120 million, explains the source.

Nevertheless, even if this reported interest turns out to be true, it’s difficult to imagine Fernandes opening up to this move just two months after rejecting the opportunity to play for another Saudi Pro League giant.

Bruno appears keen to lead United’s charge towards redemption and is seemingly excited about linking up with new teammates, particularly Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbuemo, who should ease some of the creative burden off the captain’s shoulders.
