Isak to Liverpool: Newcastle’s Striker Hunt Adds Fuel to Transfer Fire

Fabrizio Romano has delivered a fresh wave of transfer updates, but it is the ongoing saga of Alexander Isak, Liverpool and Newcastle that dominates the headlines. Speaking on his YouTube channel alongside contributor Mateo Moretto, Romano confirmed that Liverpool remain persistent in their pursuit of the Newcastle striker.

Liverpool confidence in Isak deal

Romano revealed that, “Liverpool are not giving up, Liverpool have a feeling that Newcastle are still very active on the market after signing Malick Tiao.” According to his information, Newcastle’s activity in the striker market is directly linked to the Isak situation.

Crucially, Romano stated, “Alexander Isak is not changing his mind, Alexander Isak wants to go to Liverpool, Alexander Isak has no intention to return to a normal conversation with Newcastle for new contracts.” He added that “Liverpool keep hoping, Liverpool maintain their confidence in trying to make the deal happen for Alexander.”

This is far from idle speculation. Romano made it clear, “The conversation will continue, it’s going to be a week where Liverpool will maintain their contacts active on player side.” The implication is that Liverpool are prepared to stay engaged until the very end of the window.

Newcastle preparing for life without Isak

While Liverpool maintain their push, Newcastle are planning ahead. Romano reported that “Newcastle will try to find their new striker because now they have their new defender Malick Tiao.” Midfield reinforcements are also on the agenda, with Romano saying they are “still looking… for a midfielder, an offensive midfielder and a striker.”

On potential replacements, he explained, “We know about Nicholas Jackson being an option, not the only one.” He was clear on another rumoured name, adding, “No confirmation at all on the rumours of Randal Kolo Muani… Kolo Muani wants to go to Juventus and Juventus want to sign Kolo Muani.”

This keeps Jackson and unnamed others at the forefront of Newcastle’s contingency planning. Romano emphasised that these moves could “be a really important part of the story to understand more on Alexander Isak.”

Market movement beyond Liverpool and Newcastle

The podcast did not limit itself to Anfield and St James’ Park. Alongside Mateo Moretto, Romano delivered news on Tottenham’s interest in Savinho from Manchester City, describing it as “really concrete” and noting that “Spurs are working and advancing on a deal to sign Savinho.” The context for this pursuit is James Maddison’s injury, which has forced Tottenham to seek attacking reinforcements quickly.

Other updates included Barcelona’s sale of Iñigo Martínez to Al Nassr, Kingsley Coman’s possible move to the Saudi club, and Fermín López’s firm declaration that “I’m staying” at Barcelona despite rumours of Manchester United interest.

Why Liverpool and Newcastle remain locked in talks

The Isak pursuit stands out because of its clarity. Romano’s assertion that “the plan of Alexander Isak remains Liverpool and Liverpool plan remains to sign Alexander Isak” leaves little room for doubt about the intentions on both sides. Newcastle’s willingness to explore striker options adds to the sense that an agreement could still be reached if the right replacement is secured.

With “three weeks to go to the end of the summer transfer window” as Romano reminded viewers, the stage is set for a decisive period. Liverpool’s persistence and Newcastle’s parallel search create a dynamic that could see one of the most significant transfers of the summer concluded in the coming days.

For now, Romano and Moretto’s advice is simple — “Let’s follow the situation, let’s follow the story” — because, as far as Alexander Isak’s future is concerned, this one is far from over.
