The latest report by Corriere dello Sport suggests Roma have made up their mind and are ready to appoint a new sporting director.
Earlier today, the Italian newspaper confirmed that Francois Modesto – the current technical director at Monza – is set to become Roma’s new sporting director following the recent departure of Tiago Pinto.
Modesto seems to have won the race and beat the competition in the form of several candidates from abroad including Thomas Mitchell, Christopher Vivell and Florian Maurice.
According to Corriere dello Sport, over recent weeks Modesto has held numerous talks with Roma President Dan Friedkin and close friend and former Olympiakos collaborator Lina Souloukou who is currently serving as Roma’s CEO. Souloukou is reportedly the one to have insisted on appointing Modesto.
The Friedkins, in fact, after choosing De Rossi instead of Mourinho, seem to have wanted to focus on an executive who knows Serie A, Italian football, the Italian market and above all the relevant CEO very well.
Roma are yet to make an official announcement as nothing has been signed yet, but Modesto is reportedly closing in on a move to the Italian capital soon.
