Roma are closing in on completing a deal for Rennes midfielder Enzo Le Fée, who is now ‘one step away’ from joining the Giallorossi, according to reports in Italy.

Rennes had turned down an initial offer from Roma according to reports earlier in the week, but they have since come back in with an improved bid believed to be worth a total of €20m.

According to reports from Corriere dello Sport, the 24-year-old is ‘ready’ to become a new Roma player, and the clubs are reportedly close to reaching an official agreement.

The two clubs are due to speak again on Monday, July 8, which is when Roma and director Florent Ghisofli hope to receive Rennes’s agreement to the move. Ghisolfi is particularly familiar with the player, given that they worked together in Ligue 1 for Lorient.

If the move does go through, the former France youth international is expected to sign a five-year contract in the Italian capital with a wage packet of around €2.5m per season.

Corriere add that Le Fée is prepared to leave France for a new adventure after a tough end to his time with Rennes, where he has not seen eye-to-eye with Julien Stephan. He also has a desire to compete in European football next season.
