Bundesliga outfit Union Berlin have announced the signing of Inter defender Robin Gosens.
The 29-year-old has long been linked with a move to Germany, with Bayer Leverkusen and Wolfsburg both registering interest in the German international in recent seasons.
In the end however, Gosens will head to the capital to join Union after an impressive top-four finish in last season’s Bundesliga campaign.
Gosens was a key player in Atalanta’s run to the Champions League semi-final in the 2019/20 season, but failed to translate his form on the flank with Inter, chipping in with just six goal contributions across 58 appearances for the Nerazzurri.
“I have always said that it is my dream to play in Germany and the Bundesliga one day,” Gosens said.
“The last few years at Union have been impressive, and people abroad have noticed that.
“I felt a lot of appreciation and trust in the talks with the club’s officials, so the decision wasn’t difficult for me. Now I am looking forward to the new challenge and to an extraordinary and exciting season.”
Union kick off their Bundesliga campaign against Mainz on Sunday.
