Robert Sanchez names two Chelsea players who are “the best on the planet” in their positions | OneFootball

Robert Sanchez and Marc Cucurella both came to Chelsea from Brighton, and it’s fair to say both have had a pretty rough ride.

While there are still major doubts about Sanchez, Cucurella has turned public perceptions around with some really good performances, and has become something of a cult hit with the fans.

“Obviously I’ve known Cucurella since Brighton. When he signed for Chelsea, he didn’t have a great first year, but he overcame that. He had a little injury, came back, pushed, improved massively, won the Euros with the national team, kept doing amazing back at Chelsea and is one of our best players in the team right now,” Sanchez said.

“When we need someone, he’s always there – to defend, to attack, to score. He’s – if not the best – one of the best left-backs on the planet right now. He’s unbelievable. If I have a little doubt myself I always look at him, for what he’s done, and know that you always can come out on top and do better.”

Caicedo also pulling up trees after big money move

But those two aren’t the only ones to have made the switch from the South Coast to West London – they were joined by Moises Caicedo, who cost a monster £100m fee and took a while to get going, but has now established himself as one of the league’s best midfielders.

Sanchez was also full of praise for his teammate after he won the club’s player of the year award:

“I think we’re all coming to our best levels and Moi obviously is the best defensive midfielder on the planet right now. He’s been unbelievable this year. Moi went through a little period where he was having to adjust, but the guy’s unbelievable. There’s nothing to worry about with him, he’s showed that this season.”
