Oskar Zawada is high on FC Groningen’s wishlist for this summer, according to the Dagblad van het Noorden. The 29-year-old RKC Waalwijk striker is a key candidate to strengthen FC Groningen’s attacking line, although technical director Mo Allach is unwilling to comment on the rumours.
FC Groningen unveiled its first summer signing on Monday: Younes Taha, who is on loan from FC Twente for one season. Zawada is expected to become the club’s second acquisition. The striker is “high on FC Groningen’s wishlist,” the paper says. However, there are several contenders for Zawada’s signature, including SC Heerenveen.
Speaking to the Dagblad van het Noorden, Allach declined to confirm his interest in Zawada. The striker’s contract in Waalwijk runs until mid-2026. Last season, he scored nine goals in 20 Eredivisie matches.
“Whether Zawada’s potential arrival means FC Groningen will be selling attackers this summer remains uncertain,” the statement reads.
Allach is busy with incoming transfers at Groningen, but he’s hesitant to say whether players will be presented soon. “Sometimes things move very slowly and then suddenly gain momentum. You can’t predict that,” he explains.
“As technical director, I throw out the lines, and they throw them at me. And sometimes they’re suddenly cut again. I’m not the ugliest, but I still get rejected a lot. All technical directors recognise that.”
