Benjamin Pavard could be back on the pitch for Inter Milan in time for the Supercoppa Italiana next month.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInter1908. They report that if the Frenchman is not back then, he should be back to face Venezia.
Pavard has been out of action for a couple weeks now.
The 29-year-old picked up a thigh injury during Inter’s Champions League match against RB Leipzig in November.
And the recovery process has not been a short one.
Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has had to rely on Yann Bisseck on the right side of defense in the meantime.
The German has filled in more than adequately. However, Pavard’s injury certainly strains Inter’s squad depth at the back. Particularly with Francesco Acerbi also out.
And a return to the pitch for Pavard is not immediately in sight. The former Bayern Munich defender will certainly need a couple more weeks to complete his recovery.
That means that Pavard will not be seen on a pitch before the end of December.
Inter will have to wait until 2025 to get the France international back.
However, after the new year the wait should not be all that long.
According to Tuttosport, Pavard could aim to be fit for the Supercoppa Italiana.
Inter’s first match of the new year is the semifinal of that competition against Atalanta. And should they win that match, they could face either Juventus or AC Milan in the final.
There is no guarantee that Pavard will be ready for either of those matches, however.
If the 29-year-old is not ready for the Supercoppa, though, he will be back for Inter’s next match, reports Tuttosport.
That will be against Venezia in Serie A on January 12th.
