Under Jurgen Klopp's leadership, Liverpool were known for their 'heavy-metal' football.

Now working under Arne Slot, the team behaves in a similar way - where pace is essential for breaking down teams both in possession and on the counterattack.

While most of Liverpool's players aren't short of a burst of pace, it was widely accepted that the fastest player at Liverpool was Dominik Szoboszlai, however, the Hungarian now no longer holds the crown for the great honour.

According to new data from Sky Sports, Liverpool's new fastest star is Trent Alexander-Arnold at 34.74 km/h, around 0.77 km/h clear of Liverpool's second fastest.

He sits in 17th place on the list, tied with Aston Villa's Jaden Philogene on exactly the same highest speed.

Szoboszlai is now below Virgil Van Dijk as the Reds' third fastest player, at 33.84km/h in comparison to the Dutchman's 33.97 km/h.

An ongoing debate throughout the season

Whilst this data is purely based on statistics from the Premier League this season, where only six matchdays have taken place so far for each team, it will be fascinating to keep track of how the rankings develop as the sample size increases.

For example, Luis Diaz is Liverpool's tenth-fastest player and sits 100th in the league rankings at 33.29km/h - however, his electric pace and dribbling skills are what excites Liverpool fans most when he's on the pitch and he has started this season on top form with five Premier League goals, so his pace may improve as the season progresses.

A few weeks ago the players received their FC25 ratings and Chiesa was given the highest pace rating in the squad - although his involvement so far this season has been particularly limited as he builds up his fitness and battles injury.

In what is undoubtedly going to be the most important honour to win this season, the Reds will have to go some way to beating Tottenham Hotspur's Micky Van de Van, who leads the rankings at 37.12 km/h, but we are certain the lads will be giving everything they've got.
