Juventus are on the verge of announcing the capture of Monza goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio, which will also translate into a marginal financial boost for Inter Milan.

The 26-year-old is a Nerazzurri youth product who rose through the club’s ranks.

He had loan spells at the likes of Renate, Avellino and Novara, but Inter eventually decided to offload him due to the lack of space in the first team.

Di Gregorio thus joined Monza in 2020 on an initial loan move. The Brianza club then signed him on a permanent basis following their historic promotion to Serie A in 2022.

Since then, the Italian has established himself as one of the most reliable custodians in the top flight. In fact, Lega Serie A chose him as the Best Goalkeeper of the 2023/24 campaign.

The Milano native’s exploits have earned him a switch to Juventus.

The Bianconeri have identified him as the ideal profile to inherit Wojciech Szczesny’s role.

And as FcInter1908 explains, this move will also bear some fruits for Inter who have a 10% sell-on fee in case of a sale.

The source expects Di Gregorio to complete his move to Turin on Friday. Monza should collect a transfer fee between 15 and 20 million euros.

Therefore, Inter’s cut will be between 1.5 and 2 million, depending on the definitive transfer fee.

The Nerezzurri had also been linked with a move for their former shot-stopper in previous months.

Nevertheless, the Italian champions will maintain Yann Sommer as their main man between the posts.

Moreover, Genoa goalkeeper Josep Martinez is currently finalizing his transfer to Inter.

The Spaniard will initially serve as Sommer’s understudy and will be looking to impress to eventually take the torch from the Swiss veteran.
