Paris Saint-Germain have said goodbye to the superstar era. Over the past two years, the Parisians have seen Neymar Jr., Lionel Messi, and Kylian Mbappé, which has made the capital club lose its appeal.

The Ligue 1 side have gone for young talent and players that can fit into Luis Enrique’s tactical puzzle. However, that doesn’t make good in the financial department with no star power to lure new sponsors and keep current ones happy.

So far this season, PSG have won five straight matches across all competitions, but with no superstar in their starting 11, one report reveals the not-so-greatsquad’s not-so-great appeal.

L’Equipe reports that since Lionel Messi and Neymar left, PSG haven’t attracted the same media buzz, and its shirt sales have dropped significantly. The club and Ligue 1 aren’t seeing the same leverage in sponsorship deals and overseas TV contracts, either.

PSG can force themselves into the media conversation with a deep UEFA Champions League run like last season. However, as far as the league, they did drop the ball having all these star players over the seasons and not securing favorable TV contracts.
