Repubblica: Why Milan and Inter convinced by a joint stadium project again | OneFootball

Inter and AC Milan both seem open to the prospect of sharing a stadium again as both clubs struggle to plot their path away from San Siro.

As reported by La Repubblica (via Calcio e Finanza), the primary reason for Milan and Inter to stick together when it comes to building a new stadium is the potential to become the owners of that stadium in the future, which is not currently possible with San Siro.

The two clubs, represented by Inter CEO Alessandro Antonello and Milan president Paolo Scaroni, are set to meet with Mayor Beppe Sala on Friday to discuss their new stadium plans.

Both Inter and Milan still hold major doubts about the prospect of merely renovating the existing ground, mainly because the work alone would cost at least €700 million and that is without factoring in the purchase of the land.

That being said, the two clubs could be revisiting the idea of building their own stadium next to the existing one, although fans do not want to share.

This idea had previously been shelved, but it looks more favourable now when compared to the idea of Inter joining Milan in San Donato, as the Nerazzurri have no interest in moving to that part of the city.
