Mile Svilar has ended up on AC Milan’s radar, according to a report, as the goalkeeper is unhappy with the renewal offer tabled by Roma.
Svilar joined the Giallorossi in 2022 and has been the club’s main goalkeeper since 2023-24, starting every single game except one this season (in the Coppa Italia). In other words, he’s an important player and work is underway to renew his contract, which will expire in 2027.
However, according to La Repubblica, the Serbian wasn’t happy with the first offer that Roma made and a renewal thus isn’t on the cards for now. Milan have taken note of the situation and could make a move if Mike Maignan were to leave, especially since the renewal talks have been brought to a halt a bit.
Furthermore, as the report continues, Svilar could end up being a part of a maxi-operation involving Tammy Abraham and Alexis Saelemaekers as well. Obviously, Milan intend to keep Maignan but they need to be prepared for all scenarios.
It should be noted that while the 25-year-old has opted to represent Serbia, he was born in Antwerp and thus has an EU passport. He wouldn’t take up a valuable non-EU slot at Milan, in other words, which is a very important factor indeed.
