Midfielder Davide Frattesi will not be rushed back from surgery for Inter Milan’s Serie A opener against Torino.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They anticipate that the 25-year-old will be back at the end of August.

Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi has been dealing with a persistent abdominal problem.

The former Sassuolo midfielder suffered the issue during Inter’s Champions League semifinal tie against Barcelona.

Specifically, Frattesi suffered an inguinal hernia. This plagued him through the last few weeks of the season.

Furthermore, the Italian international was unable to feature at the Club World Cup. He returned early from the United States.

Therefore, in the end, Frattesi underwent surgery to correct the issue earlier this month.

Frattesi is still recovering from his surgery. Therefore, the Italian international is not part of preseason training.

And it will still be a few more weeks before Frattesi can return to the pitch.

That has cast doubt on whether the 25-year-old can be available for Inter’s first match of the Serie A season, against Torino next month.

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, the feeling is that this would simply be too soon.

Inter are hardly going to rush Frattesi back to the pitch. The priority is for the former Sassuolo midfielder to fully heal from his injury and be fresh and ready to go.

Therefore, Frattesi should instead be back for Inter’s second or third match of the new season.
