Young attacking midfielder Valentin Carboni could be in for a “fairytale” stay at Inter Milan this coming season.

Today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, note how a shift in formation could create a place for the 20-year-old.

Valentin Carboni enjoyed the most memorable moment of his Inter career by far against Urawa Red Diamonds on Saturday.

The Argentine came off the bench in the second half. And he was the player who scored the stoppage time winner in that 2-1 victory.

Nevertheless, it is far from certain that Carboni will even be at Inter after the end of the Club World Cup.

Last summer, the Argentine had joined Marseille on loan. The previous season, he had been at Mozna.

An ACL tear cut Carboni’s season with Marseille short. Therefore, this summer is another crossroads for the 20-year-old.

For some time, it has seemed inevitable that Inter Milan would look to find a new club for Valentin Carboni this summer.

But according to Tuttosport, there is now no longer a guarantee of that happening.

That would certainly feel like a “fairytale” following the 20-year-old’s heroics against Urawa Reds.

However, reports Tuttosport, the decision by Inter would not only be a sentimental one.

As the newspaper notes, in the 3-5-2 formation that Inter have been playing for years, it would be hard to find a place for Valentin Carboni.

The Argentine can’t really play in the front two. Nor does he have the characteristics to play in a midfield trio.

However, there are early signs that Cristian Chivu would be ready to shift to using a 3-4-2-1 or 3-4-1-2 formation.

And these are systems where Carboni would certainly be able to find a place between the lines.

Moreover, it could even favour the 20-year-old. He has a profile that is more suited to playing in tight spaces and floating around the penalty area than any other player currently in Inter’s squad.

Therefore, reports Tuttosport, there is now a realistic chance that Carboni could stay at Inter this summer.
