Jordan James (21) is set to leave Stade Rennais this summer. It had been expected that he would join Parma in Serie A, however, the Italian side must now contend with interest from the EFL Championship, according to a report from L’Équipe.
The Wales international struggled to make an impact during his debut season with Rennes, despite making 23 Ligue 1 appearances. He did not score a goal in that time, registering just one assist. There is a reshuffle at Rennes this summer with many of last season’s recruits on their way out, whilst some stalwarts of the side, such as Baptiste Santamaria and Warmed Omari, have also been shown the door.
Rennes’ Ligue 1 opener against Olympique de Marseille showed that James did not figure in Habib Beye’s plans at the club.
There have been talks with Parma for several weeks, however, a deal has not been concluded, and according to L’Équipe, two unnamed Championship clubs are also in the race to secure his signature.
