Reliable journo drops transfer bombshell that two Euro giants are ‘trying to snatch’ United’s priority target

So far this week, all signs have pointed towards Manchester United getting a deal over the line for Matthijs de Ligt.

The Telegraaf revealed on Monday morning that the Red Devils had begun categorising De Ligt as their ‘top priority’ target, seemingly putting their pursuit of counterpart Jarrad Branthwaite on hold for the time being.

It’s thought that United would like to acquire two centre-halves this summer window – in an ideal world, that is. It may hinge on whether certain players, like Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof, leave and return respectable transfer fees.

Nevertheless, reports suggest that personal terms are already agreed between De Ligt and United, with the player keen on reuniting with former coach Erik ten Hag. He’d also be sharing the pitch with ex-teammates Antony, Andre Onana and Lisandro Martinez, which would make him feel settled from the get-go of his prospective Old Trafford career.

German transfer expert Christian Falk has dropped a significant bombshell this evening, too. He claims in the latest instalment of the FC Bayern Insider podcast that both Paris Saint-Germain and arch-rivals Liverpool are ‘trying to snatch’ the Netherlands international from United.

In the past 24 hours, both clubs have attempted to hijack any potential deal by approaching De Ligt’s agent. However, they were told the 24-year-old only has eyes for the 20-time champions.
