A remarkable statistic, highlighting the excellence of Real Madrid summer signing Dean Huijsen when in possession during his La Liga debut for the club, has come to the fore online.
Real Madrid were of course back in action on Tuesday night.
In the opening fixture of their 2025/26 campaign, Los Blancos welcomed the aforementioned Osasuna to Spain’s capital for a La Liga clash.
When all was said and done, Xabi Alonso’s troops emerged on the right side of a 1-0 result, owing to a solitary Kylian Mbappé strike.
The aforementioned Dean Huijsen, meanwhile, featured from the off, his first appearance in Spain’s top-flight.
And to say that the summer arrival at the Santiago Bernabéu looked at home in the colours of his new club would be putting it lightly.
In fact, so impressive was Huijsen on the ball, that the 20-year-old managed to secure for himself a piece of modern Real Madrid history.
As per statisticians Sofascore (relaid by Madrid Xtra on ‘X’), Huijsen is just the 2nd Blancos central defender to attempt 15 or more long balls in a single La Liga match with 85%+ accuracy:
